Construção social, performance de gênero, angústia e epifania: uma análise do existir feminino no mundo através de Ana e G.H., personagens de Clarice Lispector

Abstract

In a gendered society, the imposition of gender performances serves as a powerful instrument for restricting individual freedoms. This imposition, grounded in political, media, and social spheres, has its greatest impact on individuals born with a female biological sex, who often find the significance of their existence associated with and limited to the roles of mothers, housewives, and wives. This work aims to outline a panorama, based on feminist theory from the 20th and 21st centuries, of women’s participation in society and the impact that the imposition of gender performances has on them. It also proposes to apply the obtained information to the analysis of two characters by Clarice Lispector: Ana from the short story “Amor” and G.H. from the novel A paixão segundo G.H, seeking to understand whether the imposition of feminine roles is related to the existential and identity crises experienced by both characters.
