Alterações anatômicas após cirurgia plástica periodontal em pacientes com Erupção Passiva Alterada 1B: série de casos com 24 meses de acompanhamento

Abstract

Altered Passive Eruption (APE) is a developmental alteration that can harm gingival aesthetics and health. The objective of the present study was to evaluate dental clinical data before, four and 24 months after surgery to treat APE 1B. For this, 12 participants were included (23.3±4.2 years, 10 women), who underwent surgery with gingivoplasty, osteoplasty and osteotomy on the buccal aspect of teeth #13 to #23. The height and width of the clinical crowns were measured on a plaster model, and the width-to-crown ratio was calculated. Compared to the beginning, after surgery there was a significant increase in the height of the clinical crown in the central incisors (CI) (from 8.7 mm; to 9.7 mm; and 9.7 mm, respectively), lateral incisors (LI) (7.1 mm; 8.3 mm; 8.3 mm), and canines (Can) (8.0 mm; 9.1 mm; 8.8 mm) (p<0.001). In all three periods, the height in LI was lower than that in CI and Can (p<0.001). Regarding the width-to-height ratio, there was a reduction in CI at the beginning compared to the other periods (0,97; 0,86; 0,87, respectively), IL (0,97; 0,81; 0,81), and Can (0,97; 0,85; 0,87) (p<0.001). At 24 months, the width-to-height ratio of LI was lower than that of CI and Can (p<0.001). No differences were detected in comparisons between four months and 24 months. Therefore, surgical therapy was efficient in increasing the height of the clinical crown and decreasing the width-to-height ratio; the results obtained after 4 months remained stable in the long term.
