Reabilitação estética em mesiodentes na dentição decídua: relato de caso

Abstract

Supernumerary teeth are an irregularity in dental development, related to the number, in which one or more teeth or odontogenic structures are formed. Among the supernumerary teeth, we can mention the mesiodens, which is located in the anterior region of the maxilla, between the upper central incisors and, in its majority, has a conoid shape with a short root. Some complications may be related to the development of the mesiodens in the oral cavity, such as impaction, delay or change in the trajectory of eruption of the permanent incisors. Considering that early diagnosis and adequate treatment of developmental alterations are essential for the preservation of the occlusion, aesthetics, phonetics and psychological and emotional well-being of the patient, the objective of this work was to report a clinical case involving the aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of two conoid-shaped mesiodens in the anterior region of the maxilla, in a preschool-aged individual through the use of a prefabricated acetate crown. Conservative aesthetic rehabilitation of mesiodens proved to be a good therapeutic option, aiming to improve quality of life, resulting in significant aesthetic and functional benefits.
