Parque Halfeld: reflexões sobre os usos cotidianos do patrimônio cultural em Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect and demonstrate the importance of Halfeld Park, which is an urban park protected as cultural heritage, located in the center of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. It is in the heart of the commercial and political center, historically defined in the 19th century. Therefore, from political demonstrations to carnival blocks, Halfeld Park is symbolic and guardian of memories and stories. The choice to analyze the park was due to the perception of this range of symbolic relationships that surround the space. During the research, the paradoxes of the creation of the place, its daily use and the values attributed to the current and former property will be problematized. For that, a field research was carried out based on the anthropological observation of the existing dynamics in space. The ethnographic research carried out brought reflections on multiple feelings and reasons for using the park, in which each human being uses the park in a certain way and reason according to their culture and understanding of the place, from everyday to atypical uses.
