Sobre viver: o corpo negro em poemas de Conceição Evaristo e Elisa Lucinda

Abstract

In this study I focus on the discussions about the issues that question alterity, difference, and gender from the perspective of ethnic aestheticization of the black body present in the poems of Conceição Evaristo and Elisa Lucinda. I highlight the importance of black feminism to authorship for its ethnic group and I define how epistemicide implies a tension on the black culture. In this context of power and in the alterity relation, the impetuous encounter between the subjects happens. I try to emphasize it is in the body that occur the representations of difference closely intertwined to power or to its effects. For such I reflect upon the body and the unbalanced and unequal relation of power as well as upon hierarchical meanings that show alterity and legitimate insidious racism. I also present the effort of intellectuals to enable the dialogue about decolonial thought and resistance. I examine eroticism as a manifestation of affection, and I contemplate the exercise of power guided by racism which builds stereotypes of the black body. I demonstrate that the poets show potentiation of racism when they denounce it through aesthetic and alterity issue. In this reflective path I conclude that the poetic speaker is combative to forms of oppression and that his/her body, when escaping from the terrain of the docile body, offers resistance to the power that regulates it and manifests itself at the deepest levels of social practices. For the development of these reflections, I investigate the fundamental concepts that affect the black body in the analyzed literary corpus. As a starting point and theoretical approach I use the texts of bell hooks, Patricia Hill Collins, Lélia Gonzalez, Sueli Carneiro, Judith Butler, Stuart Hall, Frantz Fanon, Silvio Luiz de Almeida, Djamila Ribeiro, Audre Lorde, among others.
