Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate whether ICV students use the neighborhood for leisure. For affirmative cases, we seek to understand the forms of appropriation for this purpose; and the factors that contribute to the choice. For cases in which they declare not to attend, we investigate the reasons and / or limiting factors. To this end, a combination of bibliographic and field research was carried out, using the techniques of applying structured questionnaires via Google Forms. The organization of the data was made using SPSS software version 21.0 and for the analysis, we used the technique of content analysis. From this, we identified that the students of the Physical Education course represent the highest percentage of regulars, in relation to the other graduations. Most of the regulars are male, aged between 22 to 25 years old or 18 and 21 years old. The attractiveness of the island may be related to the location, diversity of experiences offered and the environment. The main limiting factors for adherence were lack of time, difficulty in access and lack of interest. However, most of these subjects revealed a desire to visit the place, reinforcing the attractiveness of the island as a leisure space.
