dc.description.abstractThe theme of this article refers to the relationship between age-grade distortion and 9th grade elementary school students' performance in mathematical discipline. This is an investigative study that aims to analyze the age / grade distortion and its possible relationship with the low performance in mathematics of students in the 9th grade of elementary school in the Municipal Education Network of Belo Horizonte - RME / BH. It is hypothesized that the student's irregular trajectory is a factor that influences poor school performance. In this sense, we sought to build hypotheses about the influence of the flow correction programs implemented at RME / BH in recent years in the correction of the age-grade distortion indicator. The age-grade distortion data from RME / BH for the period 2015 to 2019 and the performance of 9th grade students who were in age-grade distortion in nine municipal schools were analyzed in the Simave / Proeb assessment in the period from 2015 to 2019. The results show that age-grade distortion is a chronic problem in RME / BH, as it keeps 16% to 18% of students in age-grade distortion annually. The analysis of the performances in the Proeb evaluation indicates that students in age-grade distortion have average proficiency that places them in the Low or Intermediate performance standard in the Simave classification, inferior to the other students in the schools.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO tema desse artigo refere-se à relação entre a distorção idade-série2 e o desempenho na disciplina matemática de estudantes do 9º ano do ensino fundamental. Trata-se de um estudo investigativo que tem por objetivo analisar a distorção idade/série e sua possível relação com o baixo desempenho em matemática dos estudantes do 9º ano do ensino fundamental da Rede Municipal de Educação de Belo Horizonte – RME/BH. Tem por hipótese que a trajetória irregular do estudante é um fator que influencia no baixo desempenho escolar. Nesse sentido, buscou-se construir hipóteses sobre a influência dos programas de correção de fluxo implementados na RME/BH nos últimos anos na correção do indicador de distorção idade-série. Analisou-se os dados de distorção idade-série da RME/BH para o período de 2015 a 2019 e o desempenho dos estudantes do 9º ano do ensino fundamental que se encontravam em distorção idade-série em nove escolas municipais na avaliação do Simave/Proeb no período de 2015 a 2019. Os resultados mostram que a distorção idade-série é um problema crônico na RME/BH, pois mantém anualmente 16% a 18% dos estudantes em distorção idade-série. A análise dos desempenhos na avaliação do Proeb, nas escolas pesquisadas, indica que os estudantes em distorção idade-série têm proficiência média que os coloca no padrão de desempenho Baixo ou Intermediário na classificação do Simave, inferior aos demais estudantes das escolas.pt_BR
