Giro das saias: o embrionário empoderamento feminino na manifestação artística e cultural da folia de reis

Abstract

In the course of the research it was possible to understand that the woman did not insert herself belatedly in this universe, as a misinformed observer supposes. Indeed, the woman it has always been intrinsically inserted, involved and absorbed by the demands of the manifestation in honor of the Santos Reis, however in places and functions unseen. Through an interdisciplinary prospects, encompassing ethnographic, sociological, anthropological, historical perspectives and with a sensitive look at the artistic context, the challenge was launche with the need to analyze the power relations existing between religion, women and folia. How was this relationship structured in the past? What are the developments between women and their agencies today? What are their leadership possibilities that are already legitimized, that will project a feminine future at the Folias de Reis express themselves as the essential demands of this research. To reflect, four groups of Folias de Reis leopoldinenses were used: Folia da Serra, Folia dos Colodinos, Folia da Maú and Folia da Luíza. What are the paths taken by the leaders, or allowed, that are denied to others kept at the margins of power? Would these paths be so diverse religiously based? What mythological legitimations and prohibitions, representative of a structure of thought, were imposed on the restraint or impetus of the autonomous agency of women in this scenario? Such questions aroused a rhizomatic investigation, which demanded an analysis based on the gender category that is only allowed at the intersectionality. Therefore, they were investigated religions, mythical structures, submission, and female leadership in different contexts. Contexts, however, with the same devotion to the Santos Reis. It is possible to notice aesthetic and artistic similarities between the groups. However, the dynamics of power and religious belonging imply differentiations of: identities, attitudes, choices and ways. It is the tensions and resignifications of these paths that we seek to follow and reveal their causes and consequences, which are shown and expressed in a cultural tradition devoted to santos peregrinos.
