Censura negociada: as telenovelas de Dias Gomes na Rede Globo entre 1969 e 1979

Abstract

The present thesis has as its main goal to analysis, from censorship processes, the soap opera of authorship by Dias Gomes aired at 10 pm, on Globo TV, as a result of a complex negotiation established between the broadcast and its marketing interests, the author and the Censorship of Public Entertainment (Censura de Diversões Públicas), between the years 1969 and 1979. Thus, the antagonistic combination of a notably leftist author such as Dias Gomes, hired by a liberal broadcaster such as Globo TV - which supported the authoritarian State - which produced and transmitted works with a certain sociopolitical dimension, which were rigorously monitored and mutilated by Federal Censorship (Censura Federal) will be treated. The author's soap operas extrapolated the spaces usually destined for programs of this format and were allocated by the Censura de Diversões Públicas to a delimited zone, the time of 10 pm. Thereby, this research sought to highlight data and analysis that support the hypothesis that the soap operas by Dias Gomes, shown and/or produced at 10 pm, can be evaluated as the result of a complex negotiation process between the author, Globo TV and the Censorship of Public Entertainment. With this work, we aim to contribute to analysis that problematized the ties of sociability, the articulations of power in the television medium and the action of Federal Censorship, understanding the tensions and multilateral determinations between cultural forms and historical forces.
