Um retrato do caos: a representação midiática dos presidiários e a crise da segurança pública

Abstract

Separate between crates and a context of vulnerabilities, the shape of how the Society know e recognize the prisoner in Brazil has a relation with the midiatic representation, especially on the television, because of the centrality they occupy in our cultural dynamics. In a context that our prison population reaches the third largest mark in the world, and our politics fights a moment of instability, we see grow the narratives that show caos. Those representations, reveal more than a space and little know subjects, but helps to define features characteristics, contexts and perspectives that identify them. In this sense, this research intends to approach how the media, as an institution inserted in the mechanisms of domination that organize and create social roles, is able to construct representations within a certain context, attributing characteristics to certain individuals and, in this sense, defining them. Starting from a theoretical analysis the social representations of Moscovici (2015), specifically, we intend to analyze the representation of the prisoner and his prison situation in the reports of coverage of the Jornal Nacional (TV Globo), through Audiovisual Materiality (Coutinho, 2016). at three different political times. The first semester analyzed refers to the six months prior to the impeachment of former President Dilma Rousseff (PT); the second, the period governed by Michel Temer (PMDB) leading up to the 2018 presidential election; and the third, reveals the first half of government of current President Jair Bolsonaro (PSL). In this sense, the research aims to identify how these representations are inserted in the discussion about the present situation of prisoners in the country and the discussion about Public Security.
