| Resumo: | O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a relação entre o índice de massa corporal (IMC) e a coordenação motora de jovens atletas de atletismo. Foram avaliados 24 jovens do sexo masculino (12,5 ± 0,6 anos) do Projeto Cria-UFJF. Os atletas foram classificados em dois grupos: eutróficos (IMC < 20,6; n = 20) e sobrepeso-obesidade (IMC ≥ 20,6; n = 4). A coordenação motora foi avaliada pelo teste KTK. Verificou-se correlação negativa e estatisticamente significativa entre o IMC e a coordenação motora (r = -0,69; p < 0,001). O grupo sobrepeso-obesidade apresentou menor desempenho no teste de coordenação motora comparado com o grupo eutrófico. Conclui-se que jovens atletas de atletismo com excesso de peso apresentam menor coordenação motora. |
| Abstract: | The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between the body mass index (BMI) and the motor coordination in young athletes of athletics. We studied 24 young men athletes (12,5 ± 0,6 years) of the CRIA-UFJF Project. The athletes were classified in two groups: eutrophic (BMI < 20,6; n = 20) and overweight-obesity (BMI≥20,6; n = 4). The motor coordination was evaluated using the KTK test. There were negative correlation and statistically significant between the BMI and motor coordination (r = -0,69; p < 0,001). The group overweight-obesity showed lower performance on the motor coordination test compared to eutrophic. We conclude that young athletes of athletics with overweight show lower motor coordination. |
