Abstract

This work aims at understandinghow evangelical young people, living in Parque das Águas – an enterprise built by Minha Casa Minha Vida in the city of Juiz de Fora –have tramadothe construction of territorial identities with the new place of residence due to their religious choice . Its purpose is to uncover the role of the evangelical churches in the process of constitution of these identities, in view of their significant number and the expressive presence of young people. Assuming the multiple and plural character of youth, for the purpose of this research it was chosen to work with young evangelicals residing in the abovementioned enterprise.. This text endeavors to discuss the youth category, seeking, initially, to outline its path throughout history, and then, give it its multiple character and, in particular, to outline the youth profile discussed here. ,. In order to understand the process of construction of territorial identities, the aim is to the understandthe concept of territory, making the choice to work with the formulation of territory not only as relations of power, but as an appropriation resulting from the imaginary and/or social identity.However, it is also a question of constructing a discussion about the concept throughout geographic science..The effort was also made to describe the residential, Parque das Águas, and its physical and social barriers, as well as to outline a profile as a Brazilian evangelical camp and, in particular, the significant number of evangelical churches of Pentecostal origin installed in the enterprise..Care was also taken to trace the profile of the evangelical church in which the research was conducted with the young people, and finally, turning to the moment of analysis of the interviews conducted with the evangelical youth, culminating in the understanding of the process of Re-territorialization of this youth in its relationship with the religious universe in which they are inserted.
