Trajetórias de vida de mulheres idosas em situação de rua: múltiplas violências e o (não) acesso às políticas públicas

Abstract

This study analyzes the aging process of working-class women within the sociability of capital, understanding the experience of homelessness as an extreme expression of the Social Question. The objective is to analyze how the oppressions of gender, class, age, race, and extreme poverty articulate in the life trajectories of these women, identifying the limits of social protection in Juiz de Fora - MG. The methodology is based on the historical-dialectical materialist method, with a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing a field diary, participant observation, and interviews with six elderly women who have experienced homelessness. The results reveal that entering the streets is the outcome of accumulated marks of domestic violence, labor informality, and social security exclusion. It also highlights an early aging process that clashes with the age rigidity of public policies, generating an institutional limbo. It concludes that Social Assistance operates in a fragmented manner, managing poverty in a palliative way without guaranteeing permanent housing, which demands intersectoral actions.
