Facetas cerâmicas na odontologia estética: uma revisão sobre taxas de sucesso e sobrevivência

Abstract

Ceramic veneers represent a widely used alternative in contemporary aesthetic dentistry, being indicated mainly for the rehabilitation of anterior teeth, in cases of dental alterations related to color, contour, size, position, presence of diastemas, among other indications. Therefore, this study, through a literature review, evaluated the survival and success rates of ceramic veneers, in addition to the factors that influence the clinical performance of these restorations. The selected articles addressed relevant factors such as ceramic materials, preparation techniques and adhesive protocols. The survival rate refers to the restoration's continued function regardless of clinical interventions, i.e., the absence of absolute failures, while the success rate considers the absence of absolute and relative failures, including the need for repairs or clinical complications. The results from this review showed high survival and success rates. The main failures observed were fractures and detachments, while factors such as the preservation of tooth structure, selection of restorative materials, correct execution of adhesive protocols, and careful case selection were considered directly associated with increased clinical longevity. It can be concluded that ceramic veneers constitute a predictable and durable option when executed carefully, presenting high survival and success rates.
