Campanha Periferia Viva: trabalho de base em tempos de Covid-19

Abstract

This Course Completion Work aims to identify how the Periferia Viva Campaign was used as a grassroots work tool in the context of the COVID-19 Pandemic. For the methodological construction of the proposed study, initially, we seek to learn about the concept of culture, particularizing the concept in the thinking of Antonio Gramsci, and how it influences materially and historically the construction of a social, economic and educational hegemony. Secondly, the development and historical construction of the conception of popular education are presented, from the 1930s to the thought of Paulo Freire; and from this, the conception of emerging groundwork in social movements, especially from the contributions of CEPIS. In a third and final moment, after identifying grassroots work as an organizer of culture, the Campo Popular initiative is investigated in the “Periferia Viva Campaign in Minas Gerais” experience, in a context of intensification and worsening of the economic, political and social crisis triggered by the serious health crisis of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
