Violência nas escolas e o trabalho do/a assistente social: a dimensão socioeducativa em questão

Abstract

The violence, as a structural phenomenon of Brazilian society, permeates social relations inside schools. The school environment is affected by different situations of violence, such as prejudice and discrimination based on race, class, gender and sexuality, making it a space oversaturated with the contradictions of this society. There is a conservative political scenario that weakens and sets back discussions on diversity and Human Rights in schools, and educational legislation, discourses and narratives against education are becoming more pronounced with the growth of the extreme right in Brazilian politics. That way, the socio- educational dimension of Social Work is considered a possibility forward this challenging context, but it comes up against the limits of legislation and greater job insecurities.
