A dimensão investigativa e a formação profissional em Serviço Social

Abstract

This study aims to approach the debate on the investigative dimension in professional education in light of the Political-Pedagogical Project of the School of Social Work at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). The research is based on the premise that the investigative dimension is one of the fundamental principles that structure both professional education and professional practice in Social Work. To achieve the proposed objectives, the methodology adopted follows a qualitative approach, grounded in bibliographic review and document analysis. These approaches contribute to enhancing and deepening the development of this study, with the main documents analyzed being the 1996 Curricular Guidelines of the Brazilian Association for Education and Research in Social Work (ABEPSS) and the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) of the Social Work program at UFJF. The study examines the history of the profession and professional education in Brazil, discusses the role of the investigative dimension, and analyzes how it is incorporated into the curriculum structure and pedagogical practices of the program. The main finding is that the PPP presents several advances regarding the transversality of this dimension; however, there are still obstacles to its concrete implementation. The research emphasizes the need to deepen this debate, strengthen the articulation between theory and practice, and recognize that developing an investigative attitude in education reinforces a professional project committed to the hegemonic ethical-political project.
