Excerptiones de Prisciano: a tradição gramatical latina anglo-saxã e carolíngia

Abstract

The present work presents an analysis and translation of a selected part of the latin grammar Excerptiones de Prisciano, a medieval work consisting in a summary of Priscian’s Institutiones grammaticae. In this work will be presented an overview on the studies of the discipline of latin grammar during the Anglo-Saxon and Carolingian eras, offering a contextualization concerning the Latin tradition during the Early Middle Ages from a historical perspective and offering the methodology applied on the Linguistic Historiography, used in this research. Furthermore, the origins of the Excerptiones de Prisciano and its authorship will be discussed, and the course taken by its manuscripts will be traced to verify its range of influence on the following centuries, with an stemma of the manuscripts available.
