Os impactos da prática de oversharenting : a manipulação digital da imagem de crianças e adolescentes e os limites do poder familiar

Abstract

This study examined the phenomenon of oversharenting, a practice characterized by the excessive sharing of images, videos, and personal information of children and adolescents on social media by parents and guardians. Within a context of rapid technological advancement and intense digital exposure, the research explored changes in contemporary sociability and the risks associated with the overexposure of minors online, such as privacy violations, misuse of images, and potential impacts on their development. Employing a descriptive and exploratory methodology through bibliographic and documentary research, the study aimed to understand the limits of parental authority in the digital disclosure of their children’s data, particularly in light of the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA), the Federal Constitution, and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). The central objective was to investigate, within the Brazilian legal framework, the boundaries of the exercise of parental authority regarding the protection of children and adolescents in the digital environment amid the practice of oversharenting. The research was guided by the hypothesis that, although legal provisions exist to ensure comprehensive child protection, normative and ethical gaps persist, hindering the effective confrontation of child overexposure perpetrated by their own guardians.
