Tecidos, cores e estamparias: a resistência das culturas africanas na imagem de moda

Abstract

The work seeks to explore the relationship between African cultures and their traditions with Brazilian fashion, an area of great relevance for the black population to find and praise the beauty and teachings left by the ancestors. Based on this, this study aims to present the history of African stoppers, highlighting the preservation and resistance of some customs of the cultures of this continent in Brazil, as well as focusing on the influence of African cultures from tissues, colors and stamping, evidencing the cultural brand in the process of colonization and miscegenation of Brazil, resulting in Afro-Brasility. The research, qualitative, was conducted by field research methods, involving travel and daily observations, as well as training teachings as a black person, who integrated the creative process. In addition, bibliographic research was performed from reading books and articles, which make up the theoretical part of this work. The survey was a process that had to follow some different directions from the forecast initially, which proposed the creation of a catalog of African tissues. Due to the scarcity of material on African textiles, it was chosen to make a fashion editorial that would emphasize Afro-Brasility from colors, tissues and stoppages from diverse African cultures. Theoretical investigation that preceded the creative process of the editorial raised data on the various types of tissue present in African cultures, their modes of production and meaning, as well as investigated African influence in the various Brazilian states, the preservation of African customs as clothing, songs, dances and cuisine and the growth of Afro-entrepreneurship in Brazil. These data point to the importance of this work, which aimed, among other things, to highlight the urgency of the black population to have more voice to tell the history of Brazil from his point of view, so that black children, as well as adults, are influenced to know the ancestral culture and Not being ashamed of her, after all, nothing better than having the freedom of being who you are and be proud of the struggle for rights that began from your ancestors. The results of the editorial, which can be seen below, sought to highlight these aspects of Afro-Brasility.
