Abstract

This final project proposes an understanding of braids as a symbol of cultural expression, resistance and identity, especially in the context of the black population. The research explores how this traditional hairstyle is transformed into visual language and an instrument of empowerment. The growing appreciation of braids in the media, fashion and culture reinforces their presence as a trend and manifestation of identity. Based on this context, the fashion editorial entitled Black Parade was developed, which dialogues with the symbolic power of braids and the duality between resistance and beauty that seeks to visually translate this aesthetic, uniting theory and practice in a proposal that celebrates black ancestry, creativity and self-esteem.
