| Resumo: | Esta dissertação estabelece uma aproximação entre o filme Hotel Monterey (1972), de Chantal Akerman, e o pensamento estético-textual das peças-paisagem de Gertrude Stein. O estudo é realizado por meio de uma justaposição: uma análise minuciosa do filme, adentrando seus paradigmas compositivos, como forma, linhas, cores, relações construídas dentro de um plano e entre os planos, e tempo de duração, observando, assim, como o concreto e o abstrato coexistem na obra; e uma investigação sobre o conceito de peça-paisagem, desdobrando os principais pensamentos estéticos da escritora e aprofundando a análise de algumas de suas peças para, desse modo, relacionar certos aspectos característicos com o filme estudado. A homologia que proponho considera a diferença entre os meios artísticos (filme e escrita) e se limita a ampliar as análises sobre Hotel Monterey, colocando-o em diálogo (nada mais do que isso) com algumas ferramentas próprias da escrita steiniana. |
| Abstract: | This dissertation establishes a connection between the film Hotel Monterey (1972), by Chantal Akerman, and the aesthetic-textual thought of Gertrude Stein's landscape plays. The study is conducted through a juxtaposition: a meticulous analysis of the film, delving into its compositional paradigms — such as form, lines, colors, relationships constructed within and between shots, and duration — thus observing how the concrete and the abstract coexist in the work; and an investigation into the concept of the landscape play, unfolding the writer's main aesthetic ideas and deepening the analysis of some of her plays in order to relate certain characteristic aspects to the studied film. The homology I propose acknowledges the difference between artistic media (film and writing) and is limited to broadening the analyses of Hotel Monterey, placing it in dialogue (nothing more than that) with certain tools inherent to Stein’s writing. |
