| Resumo: | Este estudo teve como objetivo geral compreender a relação entre o conservadorismo e a luta pelo direito ao aborto no Brasil contemporâneo. Através de uma revisão crítica de literatura, abordou a origem histórica do pensamento conservador, suas características e transformações no decorrer do desenvolvimento do capitalismo mundial, bem como de que forma se deu a presença do pensamento conservador na formação sócio-histórica brasileira. No segundo momento, abordouse como o aborto foi tratado em diferentes momentos da história nacional, com enfoque no contexto político, principalmente a partir dos anos 2000. Como resultado, foi possível perceber que o tema do aborto está em disputa e que a ação de setores conservadores vem impactando no avanço da descriminalização do aborto, principalmente no contexto de fortalecimento da influência de forças sociais conservadoras, ligadas especialmente à religião católica e evangélicas, presentes nas instâncias decisórias governamentais do país. |
| Abstract: | This study aimed to comprehensively understand the relationship between conservatism and the struggle for abortion rights in contemporary Brazil. Through a critical literature review, it addressed the historical origins of conservative thought, its characteristics, and transformations throughout the development of global capitalism, as well as how conservative thought manifested in the socio-historical formation of Brazil. In the second phase, the study examined how abortion has been addressed at different points in national history, with a focus on the political context, particularly from the 2000s onward. As a result, it became apparent that the abortion issue is contested, and the actions of conservative sectors have impacted the progress of abortion decriminalization, especially in the context of the strengthening influence of conservative social forces, particularly linked to the Catholic and evangelical religions, within the decision-making bodies of the country. |
