Assistência estudantil e mulheres negras: um estudo sobre a permanência na Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the conditions of retention of black women assisted by the Programa de Assistˆencia Estudantil (Student Aid Program) at the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (Federal University of Ouro Preto). The study aims to discuss the retention of black women who entered this university between 2018 and 2020, and also involves a debate on class, race and gender. To this end, a study was carried out on the particularities of the Brazilian social formation, which encompasses discussions on race, class and gender; a debate on dependent capitalism and the Brazilian university and the context of black women at university, with a focus on their ability to stay at UFOP to finish their degree. A documentary survey was carried out, allowing the socioeconomic profile of the students to be known using data from the socioeconomic indicators of the student aid program. Interviews were also conducted with the women, making it possible to identify their academic trajectory and the impact of student support on their staying at the university.
