Odontologia de foco: recuperação rápida da função e da autoestima

Abstract

Self-esteem and quality of life are closely linked to how the individual sees themselves inserted in their environment. Still in this context, the stomatognathic system represents a key element in achieving a good quality of life and high self-esteem, as it allows speech, smiles, enjoying meals, swallowing and communication with the external environment. The objective of this work is to present a clinical case in which there was a rapid recovery of function and self-esteem in an individual treated at the Periodontics clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry at UFJF. The execution of focused dentistry, promoting extractions and an immediate total prosthesis associated with a removable prosthesis retained with clasps, recovered anatomical, functional, aesthetic and psychological characteristics, recomposing the vertical dimension of occlusion (DVO), lip, facial and the sinking of the cheeks, as well as the functional and aesthetic characteristics of the teeth and smile. The patient was treated and monitored, and her rapid recovery in terms of function and self-esteem was observed. The patient's functional and psychological demands were met.
