Abstract

In institutions that are part of the Brazilian spiritist movement, meetings are expected to be held with the aim of alleviating the suffering of their attendees, whether physical or spiritual. These meetings, led by mediums and the spirits that assist them in a spiritual institution, form a triple alliance. Therein lies its semantic effectiveness. These spiritist groups play an important role in keeping the health of their members. They seek to restore the physical and spiritual balance of their participants, which has favored the development of therapeutic forms derived from their experiences in serving the public that looks for them. On the other hand, changes in Brazilian spiritism allowed the entry of new therapeutic practices and discourses (apometry, mediumistic specialization, discourse of prosperity and personal happiness). In this regard, the research focused on the triad formed by the Joseph Gleber Holistic Clinic, located in the central region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, by the Minas Gerais medium Robson Pinheiro, who leads it, and by the spirit of a German doctor, Joseph Gleber. In this field of spiritual practices, it has been observed the resignification of spiritist orthodoxy through a system of spiritual treatment that combines Kardecist elements with the ones linked to knowledge and values such as those of the New Era. Methodologically, hybrid methods were adopted: review of fieldwork carried out during the master's thesis, review of spiritist books, and research on audiovisual materials on social media related to the founding medium and the clinic as well. Summing up, the main core is that, in the case of this spiritism, the triad mediumleader, the spirit of the German doctor and the holistic clinic, configured, over time, a holistic spiritism that, without losing Kardecist references, built ritualistic and religious therapies of inclusive and pluralistic nature.
