Abstract

This dissertation aims to reflect on how the use of Hospital Children's Animation can alleviate the suffering caused by terminally ill children aged two to seven years old, victims of cancer. With a parallel between animation and the hospital environment, a line is drawn between humanization and the production of educational audiovisual content for these children. The main hypothesis of this dissertation is cinematic animation is a factor that humanizes, improves the palliative environment, and ennobles the multidisciplinary structure involved in it, offering a clear, objective, and loving narrative to all people who together face the end of life. The methodology of analysis and bibliographic review aims to corroborate the hypothesis raised, bringing to the fore issues that permeate humanization in the hospital environment through authors such as ARANTES (2022) and BLASCO (2006 and 2011); the history of cinema and animation based on the study of authors such as DOURADO (2021), DUARTE (2017) and FOSSATTI (2011), among other theorists who dialogue with the theme presented here, in addition to texts by various scholars that reflect the importance of effective and ethical communication that, in moments of diversity such as palliative treatment for children with cancer, becomes important and essential. A small analysis will be made of three films from the Society of Imaginary Friends so that a proposal for a script that complements the animations used as a basis for this study can then be presented, also taking into consideration the family members responsible for the child undergoing treatment. palliative.
