Abstract

This research is based on experiences of spoken poetry (Slam) at school. Poetry Slam or simply Slam is a cultural manifestation that revolves around oral and bodily poetic expression. In this dissertation, the research takes place alongside poetic experiences in schools in the city of Juiz de Fora and the region, especially public schools. What can the Slam do at school? Affected by this question, scenes from schools, conversations with students, teachers and art educators involved in the “Poetry at School” project are brought. Thinking about different ways of accessing this dynamic in Juiz de Fora and the region, this dissertation is composed of this writing, a video documentary and a pilot podcast.
