Violência doméstica contra as mulheres durante a pandemia de COVID-19: um estudo do município de São João Nepomuceno-MG

Abstract

The present work aims to understand the impacts and challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on domestic violence against women, in the municipality of São João Nepomuceno-MG, seeking to analyze how this issue is structurally articulated to capitalist development and the formation Brazilian sociohistorical structure, such as the intertwining of gender, class and race as structural elements of the Brazilian social formation. The role and protagonism of the Brazilian feminist movement in the fight against violence against women and the development of public policies to prevent and combat such violence in Brazil are highlighted. Thus, in the present study, we will present the relationship between the Covid-19 Pandemic that devastated Brazil, with emphasis on the years 2020 and 2021, and domestic violence against women and its possible increase, highlighting Brazil and the municipality of study São João Nepomuceno-MG. We will also analyze the theme of gender violence, the Brazilian sociohistorical formation, the category of gender, class and race, the feminist movement, violence against women, as well as public policies for its confrontation. The analysis of the collected data was carried out by carrying out a survey of data on violence and on documents from institutions in the municipality of São João Nepomuceno-MG, together with the study of articles and academic texts. This study can help professionals and students of Social Work and similar areas to reflect more critically and broadly on the causes of permanence of violence against women in our country.
