Além das montanhas: saberes e costumes mineiros na tela do Terra de Minas

Abstract

This research had the goal to identify the type of memory and the identity of the people from Minas Gerais that is portrayed and reported in the first 10 years of the weekly program Terra de Minas, reproduced in all Rede Globo affiliates, in Minas, between 2001 and 2011. In this study, the Content Analysis (CA) methodology was used. The concepts of memory by Andreas Huyssen and Ecléa Bosi, the studies of the typical traditions from Minas Gerais by Vera França, as well as the understanding of television as a place of memory and construction of History by Marialva Barbosa, served as theoretical support. The analysis of the themes and the form of production of the program (reporting and editing) pointed out that the electronic magazine chooses as a proposal to highlight certain traditions and cultural and artistic riches of the state, despite all the economic and social contradictions faced in the various regions of Minas Gerais. It is concluded that the program chooses to create a unified identity representation of the many possible narratives about Minas, and, thus, favors the editorial framework, in which the content is marked by the bucolic and poetic tone, perpetuated in rural traditions.
