Jornalismo narrativo em podcasting: imersividade, dramaturgia e narrativa autoral

Abstract

This research starts from four characteristics of narrative radio journalism in podcasting (KISHINHEVSKY, 2018): (1) The construction of a potentially immersive narrative; (2) The emergence of the narrator; (3) The use of elements that refer to dramaturgy; and (4) An exhaustive investigation. Assuming the fact that audio is essentially immersive, the following question summarizes the research problem: What strategies used by the narrator enhance the listener's immersive experience? Seeking answers, the objective is to look at the figure of the narrator in order to identify and understand his place in what we call in this thesis of narrative journalism in podcasting. From Aristotle's (2017) thought that the characters are, after the plot, the main element of dramaturgy, we also assume that journalism itself, as well as the journalist, composes the frame of the characters in the story. So, our hypothesis is that in these productions, the narrator goes beyond the retraction of the craft and technique by triggering metajournalism, as it reinforces the discourse of truth present in the narratives in podcasts. As a methodological approach, we propose an adaptation to the Critical Analysis of Narrative (MOTTA, 2013a) taking into account the nature and complexity of the sound object. The corpus of this research is composed of the fourth season of the Projeto Humanos podcast, entitled O Caso Evandro. As a main result, we found three main strategies that enhance the listener's immersive experience: those that work with an aesthetic function; those whose function is to create mental images for the listener through sound; and those whose function is to create affective bonds. Thus, confirming the hypothesis, when triggered by the narrator, metajournalism not only goes beyond the retraction of the craft and technique, but also reinforces the discourse of truth present in the narratives. And, more than that, it also constitutes a bridge that connects the narrator's position as a journalist with a humanized figure, since it opens the door for feelings, such as certainties and insecurities, to be part of the story
