A configuração do narrador contemporâneo no romance de Chico Buarque

Abstract

The research in question sought interpretative keys under the configuration of the narrator in five novels from Chico Buarque: Estorvo (1991), Benjamim, (1995), Budapeste (2003), Leite derramado (2009) e Irmão alemão (2014). We noticed narrators that moved throughout the surroundings. They’re foreigners, ambiguous, inopportune and there’s much duality. We started from the Narratology studies and we analyzed the conceptual problematic around the literary figure of the narrator according to his place inside the narrative; its variations and denominations. We have seen how impactful the use of the protagonist narrator, who guides the point of view about the plot, (and the specificity of some other adjacent tools, such as consciousness flow, the camera storyteller and pictorial elements) maintain a relation under the paradigms around contemporaneity in the analyzed novels. Also we discussed the figure of the author and his repositioning in Contemporary Literature with the advent of narrative spaces that harbor self-fiction, as well as the reflection on the role of the media in relation to this author and to the marketing system with the emergence of new reception spaces Besides, we draw a parallel with Giorgio Agamben’s concept of contemporaneity, given the central thesis around the contemporary. We perceived the construction of a narrative based on the negativity of the subject, being, in most novels, the mediator narrative pole. This negativity presents itself in different yet similar forms. We recognized, in the ruin of the Buarquian narrators, the realization of a speech capable of revealing, in the fissure of present time, the chaotic construction of what was once the representative of the narrative that perpetuated ethnocentered,, socially stable and recognizably valid values. Thus, it is language, through its tools, that establishes a discontinuity of expectations on habitual references in the analyzed novels.
