A balança de Têmis em tempos sombrios: Justiça do Trabalho, trabalhadores e ditadura em Juiz de Fora (1964-1974)

Abstract

During the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship the working class and its trade union representations were shaken by a new economic-wage project, of an authoritarian and excluding bias, practiced by the military governments. Alongside this, the workers were hit by the system of repression that sought to control the labor and union movement, eliminating possible threats to the political regime installed in 1964. In this context of authoritarianism, the Labor Court was constituted with an important channel of recourse and resistance for the workers, who, through their courts, were fighting for better wages and conditions of work and against authoritarian policies of the dictatorship. This study therefore seeks to understand the performance of the workers and unions of Juiz de Fora (MG) and the Labor Court itself during the first decade of the military regime (1964-1974).In the end, we try to understand if the decisions decreed by the Regional Court of the 3rd region and by the Superior Labor Court corresponded to the interests of the workers of Juiz de Fora.
