Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify, in the work A Duraçao Do Dia, by Adelia Prado, the relationship of the female self-poetic with aging. For this it will be done a theoretical and critical survey about female aging and contemporary meanings. The considerations to be developed aim to map the condition of mature woman in the Brazilian socio-cultural context, allowing for a reflection about the relations of gender on aging women in society. We assume that changes in society, influenced by the increase in female participation in social, economic and political relations changed the perception on values like beauty and the experiences of sexuality with which the poetic text by Adelia Prado dialogues. To achieve this goal, it will be held a small historical of the poetic trajectory of the Divinopolis writer as well as an overview of struggle and achievement of women in the twentieth century. The analysis will be permeated by debates around issues of gender and aging, aimed to map the presence / absence of these elements in author work and the dialogue that it establishes with the transformation of society.
