A atuação do enfermeiro na assistência às crianças e adolescentes com câncer infantojuvenil

Abstract

Objective: to analyze, through scientific literature, the role of nurses in caring for children and adolescents diagnosed with childhood cancer. Method: this is a narrative literature review, in which scientific articles available in the Virtual Health Library databases were selected. The research was conducted by searching for and analyzing relevant studies, using specific eligibility criteria to select the articles. Results: after applying the inclusion criteria, 12 articles were identified that addressed the topic in question. These articles were analyzed and summarized in a table, which describes information such as the author/year, the objective of the study, the methodological design used, the role of nursing and the context in which this role takes place. Final considerations: the analysis of the articles reveals that, although the presence of nurses in the care of children and adolescents with cancer is widely recognized, there are still few investigations that explicitly highlight the work of these professionals in caring for the public. In view of this, there is a clear need for further studies to deepen the understanding of nursing's contributions in this context, with a view to improving the quality of care provided and the ongoing training of nurses.
