Colaboração em artes: análise de redes de co-autoria da comunidade acadêmica de Minas Gerais

Abstract

What characteristics define the Arts research community? How many agents are there in the Arts (and Music) research community in MG? How do they collaborate with each other? How do they collaborate with external researchers? This work is about the phenomenon of collaboration through co-authorship in publications in the Arts field. We consulted three systems: Lattes, CAPES, and Sucupira. The investigation was divided into two groups: (1) analysis of co-authorship networks of academic articles in the Arts community and (2) analysis of word co-occurrence networks in publication titles (articles, books, and chapters). The Sucupira Platform and the open data from CAPES were used to identify professors affiliated to Arts Postgraduate Programs in Minas Gerais. Data processing of resumes was partially automated. The modeling of co-authorship networks included professors and their co-authored publications. Two categories of collaborative networks were established: main community (between Arts professors in MG) and extended community (between Arts professors and researchers external to the main community). Patterns of topological structures were identified considering the temporal transformation of the network, subcommunity architectures were classified and the existence of researchers who presented intermediation centrality and bridge between groups attributes was identified. In another stage of the analysis, thematic trends were identified and networks of co-occurrence of words were modeled in the titles of articles, books and chapters published in English. We included statistical descriptions and quantitative comparisons in the results. In addition to the initial analyzes for the study of the phenomenon of collaboration, the research forms a historical record that contributes to the memory of academic research in Art. It is important to state that a detailed analysis of the structures, and collaboration dynamics of a certain academic community, can help the community to recognize itself as such, especially if this has never been done. Such analyzes can, if accomplished systematically, have a direct impact on the quality of PPGs, influence structural changes in public policies and promotion related to the arts. In future works, based on the same methodology, other scales of observation can be considered, from Minas to other states of the country, and to other countries, and from the Arts to other domains of the Humanities.
